Anyway, Sunday was one of those days. Zach and I made the return trip to Keystone, celebrating the uncommonly nice April weather by selecting outdoor seats on the aft end of the main deck. With sunny skies and calm seas ahead, our ferry departed on schedule and all was nice and relaxed until mid-crossing. The ferry slowed and the alert went out by the rider class . . . . .SUB!

The one nice thing about ferry riding is: if anything happens in the water around the boat, you never have to ask "where?" Just follow the listing of the ferry. That is where the passengers and action will be found. There was indeed a Sub (Class unknown). This is not a particularly rare site in Puget Sound, but what I found interesting was that the sub had one large vessel traveling on either side of it, one small vessel traveling forward from the main group and one small vessel trailing the group. As expected, the group of five was under power headed West out of Puget Sound . . . The rareness of the sighting occurred when the group came to a complete stop and stayed in the same place until we lost sight of them approximately 10-15 minutes later. In the years of random sub sightings I have encountered in Puget Sound, I have never seen a sub fully stopped
